New Braunfels this weekend!

Are we crazy?! Maybe....

Anneliese and I will be packing up the Cobra and headed down to New Braunfels this weekend, leaving Friday morning headed from south D/FW to Hwy 67, then Hwy 281, then after Blanco Ranch Road 32 to Hwy 306 to our AirBnB in Gruene.

Friday night we will probably be hanging out at Riley's Tavern, Saturday floating on some river, Saturday night a concert at Gruene Hall, headed home Sunday.

Pray for no mechanical issues!!

June 9, 2023: We packed up for the 250+ mile drive down Hwy 67 to Hwy 281, then Ranch Road 32 into New Braunfels/Gruene

First stop is a must-stop for breakfast at the Koffee Kup restaurant in Hico!

After miles and miles of smiles, another favorite stop is the Devil's Backbone Tavern in Fischer, for some A/C and refreshment!

Another favorite along River Road is Lone Star Float House!

Time to check in to our little AirBnB RV right on the Guadalupe River in Gruene...

June 10, 2023 ... we spent the day on the river in New Braunfels, then dinner at the Gristmill Restaurant and the evening at Gruene Dance Hall with Tab Benoit!

June 11, 2023 time to drive home, with a side trip for a special destination to check off my bucket list!

Breakfast at Union Station Diner in New Braunfels is fabulous!

We are packed up, filled up, and gassed up ... on our way to...

Manor Texas, filming location for one of my favorite movies: Whats Eating Gibert Grape? It was SO hot, we couldnt be bothered stopping and getting out, so we just took a few pictures from the cobra :

Arnie Grape (Leonardo DiCapro) climbed this water town and got in trouble

Manor Grocery stood in for Gilbert Grape's (Johnny Depp) employer in the fictional town of Endora, Iowa.

Then on to Apache Pass, to the Worley Bridge! Built in 1911, and restored in 2013.

Was a fabulous 3-day run. Our Hurricane Cobra ran brilliantly the whole time, even though the temps were in the high 90s, the water temp never rose above 85°C. I know for sure I made a bad choice with the close-ratio Tremec TKO600 with .82 5th gear ratio. Will be upgrading to TKX with .64 OD 5-gear before long...
