Post Texas Cobra Club Fall Event Feedback

  • Moderator
Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone made it home safely. I wanted to say "Thanks" to everyone that came out to the Fall Cobra event.
Additionally, Doug Hetzler from Gibson Discount was extremely happy to see all the Cobras. We did have a few
new people that showed up, but didn't really know what was happening, so hopefully everyone that was new
to the event had a good time? The planned date for next years event will be 18-20 Oct 2024, however can
be moved (see 5 below).

A few things that were discussed that I would like to follow-up on which are the following:

1 - An Fall Event T-shirt? Who would be interested?

2 - Alternate between Kerrville and Fredericksburg? Thoughts?

3 - An actual meetup for a group pic maybe on Saturday? Thoughts?

4 - Meet-up at Gibsons again on Saturday Morning? Its a big enough parking lot and
would be a good place for everyone to meet-up and figure out where everyone is
going in case someone wants to tag along.
This would help with new people showing up. Thoughts?

5 - 18-20 Oct 2024 is the same date as F1 next year, is that an issue and should it be moved to 25-27 Oct 2024?

As a new guy to the group, I did not know what to expect. Everyone I met was very knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming! My wife and I had a great time and experienced some fantastic road routes. Our appreciation to all.

Responses(s):
1. Event T-shirts would be great - short and long sleeve.
2. Changing locations and accommodations would be a nice alternative.
3. I could go either way on group photo.
4. We didn't make it to Gibsons but we did find a good Urgent Care in Kerrville. I like the idea to gather together and discuss route options so I am for meeting at Gibsons.
5. I am flexible to either of those schedules. I did go down 130 tollway on my way home and the traffic was stacked for miles on the main lanes and shoulders on the west bound side. I won't travel that way again on F1 day.

It was a great time, my thoughts as follows
1. yes t-shirt or short sleeve shirt, i can wear at work lol
2. Traffic, I am not sure Fredericksburg is better, bad traffic, I like the open roads.
3. Group photo is a great idea
4 Doug was a great host, and I think it is a great place to gather and discuss plans
5 I am flexible with the dates, what ever works best for everyone
6. Not on the list, but thank you Paul for all the work you do to make this happen, you were fantastic.

Doug Yates mentioned Tapatio Springs in Boerne is open again. looks awesome ...

I haven't been to a Fall meet yet, but I've been to dozens of spring meets. and I would advise staying as far away from Fredericksburg as possible for accommodations. WAY too much traffic. I want to get out of the city ... and drive !

As another new guy to the group, I would like to thank everyone involved with the Fall meet. I would like to double thank (is that a thing?) everyone who helped out and watched out for us while we dealt with our overheating Daytona.

My wife and I enjoyed meeting everyone, seeing the cars, and driving the Daytona on interesting roads.

We would buy t-shirts if they were available, but we were ok with no shirts.

I enjoyed the meet-up at Gibson’s. Doug was very friendly.

We felt genuinely welcome, and we will look forward to next year.

Pete I am curious if the relay fixed your fan issue or not. I wasn't able to talk to you after our cruise.

Paul thanks for organizing. Here is my feedback;

1. Tee shirt option would be nice.
2. The location will obviously be set by the hotel. I was not impressed by YO Ranch. My room was pretty run down so not where I want to stay again. Ideally we should look for a place like San Marcus - room to park trailers and Cobra's in a common location. If we park Cobra in a common location then we create the " meeting place" for everyone to hang out and plan trips, socialize, etc. and can address your item 3 and 4. The group size is small enough in the fall we should be able to find a accommodation that works.
5. The week proposed will conflict with F1 and also the BBORR so would like to see a change to a different date.

Pete I am curious if the relay fixed your fan issue or not. I wasn't able to talk to you after our cruise.
The relay did not fix it. I ended up running a wire straight from the battery to the fan. I put a 30 amp fuse in line, and used that as the on/off switch. Once the fan was actually running, the car did not have any overheating troubles.

Thanks for your help.

Pete
