Hi I’m new to the club And live in Austin. I have a 2024 CSX8000 and would like to get a tonneau cover. What is the best place to find one?

are those the 289s? I would have thought they come with one.... do you already have the lift-a-dot pins for a soft top?

I got a snapless tonneau that works great from piggyback covers ... https://piggybackcovers.com/ mine is the black #15 on the homepage of their website.

Yes I have lift-a-dot pins and would prefer to use a cover with them

I found a tonneau cover from Shelby Legendary car sales in CA. The place that the car was ordered from Shelby America. Thanks for the help.

My next hurdle is registering the car in Austin. I have scheduled the A-68 law enforcement for September 8th. Has anyone had success in registering a car as an antique? If not how do you deal with the emissions test. I have a 1965 289 motor.

Roland, glad you found a source for your tonneau cover.

Regarding titling and registering new cobras in Texas, that is a whole 'nother mess. You DO NOT need emissions testing in any county, IF you register as a "Custom Vehicle". You do NOT want to register as an antique, it is not a 25+ year old vehicle, it is a new 2025 ASVE.

and the manual here: https://www.txdmv.gov/sites/default/files/body-files/Assembled_and_Reconstructed_Vehicle_Manual.pdf

You do NOT need to make an appointment with Texas DPS for a VIN assignment. Shelby American should have assigned a VIN on your car, and is on your MSO. TxDPS makes sure your car is not built from stolen cars/parts, and then assigns you a VIN. You already have a VIN.

Ron posted a link to this page that has extensive information on titling and registering in Texas. I'm going to add this information to our website here in the FAQs:

Good luck.

Thank you
Very Helpful
I do have a California Title that was signed over to me for my CSX8000 which might make things easier. The Travis County Tax Collector office told me I needed the 68-A Law Enforcement Inspection then come back. I have scheduled an inspection on Sept 8th in Austin. It looks like I should register the car as an "Assembled Custom Vehicle" . Wish me luck.

I just went through the titling/registration process Thursday. I had a VIN but had not been titled yet because I did the assembling. If you already have a title, you do not need the VTR 68A inspection. If it was registered and titled in the US(California included), it is just a matter of reregistering a car from a different state.
