Ford 9" Rear End Bearing Replacement

Howdy y'all! I have a Hurricane Cobra built in 2006. I need to replace the driver's side axle bearing.

After several attempts I feel that I have the correct bearing and wedding ring now. (Hint: it is not Strange #1012 but is #910-80508 from Speedway Motors through Amazon)

When I go to press on the new bearing and wedding ring, should there be a gap or space between the outer edge bearing and the shoulder of the "flange end" of the axle?

I had a local shop press on the bearing and wedding ring to the point the bearing made contact with the shoulder of the flange. Now my rotor is dragging on the backing plate.

I followed the assembly manual and glued the spacer (about 1/4" thick) to the bearing.

I feel that the bearing was pressed on too far and that a small gap would allow the axle to be farther out allowing for clearance between the rotor and the e-brake backing plate.

Any Ideas?

Ken, sorry for the late reply, you may have this sorted out already, but the axle bearing should be pressed on all the way up to the step or shoulder on the axle. In other words, the bearing cannot be pressed on "too far". That doesn't solve the issue you're having but hopefully that makes sense.

It's more likely that spacer slipped and is not allowing the backing plate to go back all the way.

You are correct. You bottom the bearing out and it's done.
